2016 Annual Report
The Darke County Board of Developmental Disabilities continues to address the needs of individuals having developmental disabilities by responding to the many requests for services and supports. The support of the Darke County community through local taxes continues to be vital. Like school districts and other governmental entities, the Developmental Disabilities Board has realized cuts in numerous funding streams over the past several years. The support of the citizens of Darke County has allowed us to continue to provide quality services.
Board members and staff invite you to visit to see your tax dollars making a difference in the lives of individuals and families. The commitment that you, the voters, have made through tax support and the commitment of our staff, contract associates, vendors, and families has allowed us to fulfill our mission to provide outstanding services and supports to the citizens residing in Darke County with developmental disabilities.
Calendar year 2016 was a year of tremendous change for Darke DD. The agency complied with State and Federal directives mandating individuals with developmental disabilities (DD) be served in integrated settings and shifted Medicaid-funded services from county operated to private providers. We made changes to become a more efficient funder of services and administrator of benefits and safety. Knowing change is difficult, we worked diligently to make the transition as smooth as possible and beneficial for the people we serve and their families.
